The Process

Although bio-identical hormone therapy for women and men seems complex, recent technological advances simplified the process to the point where the evaluation, procedure, and follow up are handled in two simple in-office appointments. Each implantation ordinarily lasts 4-6 months depending on the patient and circumstances.

Initial Visit

First, the patient schedules a consultation. Hormone therapy specialist, Dr. Bhatia ensures that consultations are scheduled apart from normal business operations so that the patient is ensured a private and attentive environment. Upon meeting Dr. Bhatia, the patient will initially discuss his or her interest in the procedure and their understanding of its benefits beyond traditional hormone replacement therapy in San Antonio. Following this discussion, Dr. Bhatia will complete a full history and physical examination, including pap smear, mammogram, and bone density measurements. Additionally, blood samples are collected and analyzed for the determination of complete baseline labs including cholesterol levels, thyroid function, and menopause specific hormones including FSH, estrogen, and testosterone levels.

The initial visit serves three fundamental goals:

  1. To educate the patient about the benefits and limitations of the procedure;
  2. To collect baseline tests for evaluation of the procedure’s efficacy; and
