What to Expect - HRT San Antonio

The Process

Although bio-identical hormone therapy seems complex, recent technological advances simplified the process to the point where the evaluation, procedure, and follow up are handled in two simple in-office appointments. Each implantation ordinarily lasts 4-6 months depending on the patient and circumstances.

Step 1: - HRT San Antonio

Step 1:

Initial Visit

First, the patient schedules a consultation. Dr. Bhatia ensures that consultations are scheduled apart from normal business operations so that the patient is ensured a private and attentive environment. The initial consultation may be scheduled via email at info@naturalhormonetherapyclinic.com or by phone at 210-222-2694. Upon meeting Dr. Bhatia, the patient will initially discuss his or her interest in the procedure and their understanding of its benefits beyond traditional hormone replacement therapy. Following this discussion, Dr. Bhatia will complete a full history and physical examination, including pap smear, mammogram, and bone density measurements. Additionally, blood samples are collected and analyzed for the determination of complete baseline labs including cholesterol levels, thyroid function, and menopause specific hormones including FSH, estrogen, and testosterone levels.

The initial visit serves three fundamental goals:

  1. To educate the patient about the benefits and limitations of the procedure;
  2. To collect baseline tests for evaluation of the procedure’s efficacy; and
  3. To calibrate the appropriate dose of hormone therapy to the individual.

The specific titration to the individual’s hormonal composition is the essence of individualized hormone therapy.

Step 2:

Procedure is Scheduled

Second, the patient’s procedure is scheduled for a short period after the initial evaluation, typically one week. The procedure is exceedingly simple. It is an in-office procedure under local anesthesia that lasts no more than 15-30 minutes. Most importantly, the patient can then resume normal activities immediately. Due to the discriminating diligence conducted in the first visit, patients rarely report unexpected symptoms or side effects. Instead, the titrated dose ensures maximal benefits and minimal side effects.

Step 3:

Record Improvements

Third, most patients keep a record of improvements experienced with their first treatment. Four weeks after the treatment, the patient will visit Dr. Bhatia for a follow up to review their improvements and address any concerns that may arise.

Step 4:

Long-Term Benefits

If satisfied, the patient will schedule a follow up appointment for five months later, at which point another pellet will be placed to maintain a constant flux of hormones and maintain stability for the patient and their body. The subsequent implantations are determined by the resumption of symptoms or marginally declining benefits.
